Health and Safety

It’s important. In fact, it’s critical.

We rely on our partner companies to do some pretty dangerous work – operating heavy printing machinery and installing signs near busy roads, for example. So we make sure that we only use contractors that have all the correct and current training in place.

We know because we have worked with them to complete the relevant training (e.g. Chapter 8 – Traffic Management) but we also make sure they actually carry it out in practice by routinely observing them at work. Otherwise they don’t work for us.

Luckily, we’re not at risk in our nice, comfortable offices though. Actually, that’s not true. In fact, most injuries at work are caused by slips or trips (see the Health and Safety Executive annual statistics for Great Britain) and they can happen anywhere. So we take it seriously and we’ve devised relevant and regularly updated policies which form part of the core training for all of our staff when they start and during their time at Community Partners.

To us, it makes sense to want to prevent our employees and contractors from injuring themselves, but we also have sponsorship schemes to implement and manage. So our job is to make sure our people and partners feel safe and protected to do theirs.
